Job: Science & Technology Counselor (m/f), 100%, Pretoria

A position at the Swiss Embassy in connection with the Swiss South African Joint Research Programme

Your tasks

Set up and manage the desk for Science & Technology (S&T) and higher education at the Swiss Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa. Provide and ensure support for the implementation of the bilateral research cooperation program between Switzerland and South Africa. Coordinate collaboration between the leading Houses in both countries (currently:
Switzerland: University of Basel and the Swiss Tropical Institute; South Africa: Council for Scientific and Industrial Research), the Embassy and the Swiss State Secretariat for Education and Research SER.

Your profile

You are a flexible, communicative personality, hold a university degree and have a confident manner, with strength of character and proven team spirit. You possess sound knowledge of the Swiss S&T, Higher Education system and good knowledge of the South African S&T and Higher Education system, as well as of the South African industrial context. Your English is excellent and if possible you have good skills in one of the Swiss national languages (French, German or Italian). Preferably, you have experience in working within an international context and the willingness to interact in the dynamic field of research cooperation.
The position is based in Pretoria. The salary and the benefits are in accordance with the Swiss regulations for local employees abroad.
