 tudies Conference “African Perspectives on Global Transformations”.Th
 e workshop "Carrying the Message" is a curatorial and teaching project wh
 ich links two collections of the Basler Afrika Bibliographien: shopping ba
 gs and posters\, both originating primarily from southern Africa and Weste
 rn Europe.\\r\\nThe workshop introduces the collections and engages partic
 ipants in working groups to explore questions of curation\, ethics and edu
 cational relevance. As such\, materiality\, design\, conservation\, access
 ibility\, thematic contexts and much more is touched on. Examples range fr
 om posters and bags produced by Swiss-anti-apartheid\, anti-colonial and a
 nti-racism organisations to those produced by southern African environment
 al activism\, political parties or companies.
