This magazine developed as the mouthpiece of the Afrika-Komitee Basel, which formed part of the solidarity movement for the liberation of Africa. With time it became a publication with a clear focus on development in Africa.

The Afrika-Bulletin is published quarterly and each issue addresses a specific topic, such as African Cities, Health and Health Systems, Literature, Mining or Land Conflicts.

In 2010 the Centre for African Studies and the Afrika Komitee joined forces and, starting with issue No. 140, they edit the magazine together. The magazine now offers a platform for MA and PhD students in African Studies at the University of Basel (and in general those interested in the African continent) to gain experience in editorial tasks, or in writing articles for a wider audience.

Are you interested in joining the editorial team or in supporting the production and distribution of the magazine? Students may earn credits in the form of an internship.
