DESCRIPTION:Beginning in February 2019\, widespread  anti-government protes
 ts have taken place throughout towns and cities  across Algeria. These hav
 e coalesced into Hirak\, a political movement  calling for democracy and g
 reater social equality. Inevitably\, singing  and chanting have become int
 egral to the protest. Dr Wilford  will explore the ways in which music an
 d sound have helped to shape  Hirak\, with particular focus upon the negot
 iation of Algerian public and  private space through sonic practices.\\r\\
