SUMMARY:Young Scholars' Forum: Creative Encounters - Rethinking Research in
  Global Spheres
DESCRIPTION:Early career researchers often work within the margins of their
disciplines\; this limits broader engagement with viewpoints that could p
resent inventive research ideas\, concepts and outcomes. As fellow PhD stu
dents\, we recognize how integral young scholars’ contributions and enga
gement in scholarly discourse is to knowledge production and requires to b
e engaged with. By fostering a platform to share ongoing research\, expand
ing traditional academic formats\, creative or unconventional methods\, ar
ticulate research in a facilitated and social gathering of peers is what t
he forum aims to provide.\\r\\nThrough a peer-led forum titled “Creative
Encounters: Rethinking Research in Global Spheres\,” PhD students are i
nvited to reimagine interdisciplinary methodological frameworks that trans
cend geographic limitations\, disciplines and academic borders. Designed a
s a collaborative and generative platform for African Studies and related
disciplines\, the forum is aimed at cultivating innovative approaches to r
esearch. \\r\\nBy asking how we can approach our research through creativ
e lenses\, the in-person event on the 25th of August consists of a creati
ve interactive workshop\, networking social event and a keynote speech by
Dr. Henri-Michel Yéré. \\r\\nThe forum is a collaboration between PhD
students from the University of Basel\, the University of Freiburg and the
University of Bayreuth. It is funded by EUCOR – The European Campus.
