Lena Bloemertz: Environmental Management and Risk of Small-Scale Farmers at the Lake Victoria in Kenya

PhD-project in Social Geography, University of Bayreuth

Lena Bloemertz is assistant at the Department of Environmental Sciences in Physical Geography and Environmental Change at the University of Basel. She did her previous studies in Geo-Ecology, Social Antrophology and Development Sociology at the University of Bayreuth. Her PhD is in Social Geography on Environmental Management and Risk of Small-Scale Farmers at the Lake Victoria in Kenya. Her postdoctoral research is in the framework of the SNF-funded project Comunal Land Reform in Namibia - Implications of the Individualisation of Land Tenure coordinated by her.

Fields of specialisation in research and/or teaching
Her major interests are environmental management and land use change, natural hazards, disaster risk management and risk sociology. Her current research focus is on Namibia, she has previously been working in Eastern Africa.
