The festival showcases work that takes an unconventional look at black experiences and allows new perspectives and understandings. By focusing on black narratives, it also challenges cinema’s overwhelming whiteness (see #OscarsSoWhite). In 2019, its inaugural year, the Black Film Festival Zurich will present 15 feature films, documentaries and short films that move, inspire, and invite viewers to broaden their gaze.
