Concert: Feya Faku Quintet featuring Keenan Ahrends
Feya Faku is a legend and has had a great impact on the South African jazz scene since the 1990s. His songbook full of the colours and rythms of the Eastern Cape has become a standard. In 2013 Faku and his quintet recorded the award wining CD Le Ngoma (our music) at the Musikerwohnhaus in Basel. – a tribute to the jazz of South Africa and the musicians that taught him the trade but also a testimony of great friendship and lasting collaboration with wonderful Swiss musicians. Guitarst Keenan Ahrends, who like Faku is currently artist in residence in Basel, joins this great band.
