Munich photographer Dieter Hinrichs documented African everyday life and colonial forced removals in 1959&60 in Windhoek. His impressive black and white images are unknown in Germany. They were recently published as a central component of a broader social history of Windhoek’s “Old Location”.
In conversation with Hinrichs, the German-Namibian political scientist and author Henning Melber and the Namibian decolonial artist and activist Hildegard Titus introduce turning points and visual documents shaping the liberation history of Namibia, a former German colony.
