Carlo Mombelli is regarded as one of South Africa’s most uncompromising bassists in the field of creative music. His evocative sonic universe is rooted in jazz whilst simultaneously embracing contemporary composition, open form and subtle sonic architectures. He draws deeply on both African musical traditions and European modernism. Within this mystical introspection, the acclaimed singer Msaki redefines contemporary South African vocal art. Her rich, dark voice is intimate and vulnerable, yet possesses a clear, powerful radiance with a fearless, emotional urgency that gets under your skin. “The World Is Dancing on the Edge of a Cliff” was released on Clap Your Hands Records.
