Yaya Sanou regards sign language as an independent form of artistic expression. The movements of the hands, face and entire body are reminiscent of the aesthetics of dance. This prompted him to develop the "VIBRA-SIGNE" technique, which enables people with disabilities to dance to the rhythm of the music – without hearing it. VIBRA-SIGNE uses vibrations, signs, gestures and visual forms of expression to offer people with hearing, visual, motor or multiple disabilities a space for artistic expression and communication. It allows one to move, stimulates creativity and strengthens autonomy in musical interpretation.

During this workshop, Yaya uses the VIBRA-SIGNE technique to give an introduction to traditional Burkinabe dance as well as Afro-contemporary dance, drawing inspiration from the movements of the Bobo, Peulh, Gourissi and Djanssa dances.
