CEISR is organising this panel and lecture series in collaboration with the University of Johannesburg and the University of Bayreuth. The online discussions respond to urgent calls to engage in more responsible social science and humanities research. - Monday 19 May from 13:00-15:00 (UK time): Panel discussion around the paper "New Area Studies as an Epistemological Framework: Some Reflections of Knowledge Production and Positionality" authored by Marianela Barrios Aquino;
- Monday 2 June from 13:00-15:00 (UK time): Lecture to be delivered by Nomaswazi Kubeka (University of Johannesburg) – "Linguistic (In)Justice and Epistemic Redress";
- Monday 16 June from 13:00-15:00 (UK time): Lecture to be delivered by Danielle Isler (University of Bayreuth) – "Reversing the Gaze for Whom? Whiteness in Post-Apartheid Cape Town";
- Monday 30 June from 13:00-15:00 (UK time) Lecture to be delivered by Harry Kapatika (University of Johannesburg) – "Why Epistemicide Matters: The Historical Problem of Knowledge in Africa for the 21st Century".
