Culturescapes Sahara 2025
The Burkinabe choreographer Yaya Sanou creates an unleashed choreography with six dancers from his company Fientan, who have a hearing impairment. A panting body, a heartbeat that accelerates, a gaze that turns away, a musician who keeps the rhythm. Their families and society ignore their existence because of their disability. Fientan rebels against this: With grand gestures, they express feelings between pain and uncertainty, address stigmatization and their own indignation and try to regain their lost place in society. Through dance, they create a utopia of an inclusive community in which everyone has a place.
With aftertalk.
