Performance: "Uromwen"
Josephine Ebiuwa Abbe teaches performance and theatre at the University of Benin in Benin City and has already created several choreographies and performances. She is part of the curatorial team of the exhibition "Dialogue with Benin" and has helped to integrate the performative into the exhibition.
Together with the Edo Cultural Art Forum from Graz, Josephine Ebiuwa Abbe will perform "Uromwen" with mourning songs and dances in honour of Oba Ovonramwen, who was deposed by the British in 1897. The performance has a duration of 45 minutes and will be followed by a discussion in English.
