What sounds like a simple question actually reflects years of relationship-building among museums, communities, and other stakeholders. This panel discussion sheds light on the collaboration behind the return of the “Usakos Railway Workers’ Collection” – a collection that originated around 1904 amid the violent context of a colonial railroad project in what is now Namibia.
With Munukayumbwa Ellis-Mwiya (Museums Association of Namibia), Kleophas Johannes (Deputy Mayor of Usakos), Samuel Bachmann (Curator, Bernisches Historisches Museum) and Anna-Pierina Godenzi (Project Manager, Bernisches Historisches Museum).
Panel discussion in English.
