From the mid-1970s onwards, Jocelyne Saab turned her attention to Cairo: “City of the Dead” (1977) documents an inhabited cemetery, she focuses on the Copts in “The Cross of the Pharaohs” (1986), and “The Ghosts of Alexandria” (1986) tells of the faded cosmopolitan splendor of Alexandria.
