swisspeace course: Conflict Transformation & the Role of Religion Course: Methods & Approaches
Training topic
Religion continues to play a key role in conflicts such as the ones in Northern Ireland, Iraq, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Mali, or Myanmar. Participants of the Conflict Transformation & the Role of Religion Course gain practical knowledge on methods and tools of conflict transformation focusing on conflicts with a religious dimension as well as on the roles of different actors in these contexts. With Northern Ireland and Iraq, two case studies will be discussed & analyzed in-depth.

Participants

Requirements: University degree (min. Bachelor) and two years of professional experience in a topic-relevant area.

Structure & Methodology
Training methodologies include expert inputs, peer exchange, case studies, exercises, skills training and self-study. The training draws on experiences of participants and empirical examples.
Certification
Successful participants are awarded a Confirmation of Participation. This training can be taken as one of the module (1 ECTS) of the Certificate, Diploma and Master of Advanced Studies in Civilian Peacebuilding programs or the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Religion & Konflikt (in German)offered by swisspeace and the University of Basel.
