In his acclaimed solo, Salim Djaferi takes apart the language of colonisation with a great deal of humour and biting irony. In 2018, the son of parents with an Algerian migration background travelled to Algiers to research the colonisation of Algeria and the bloody transition to independence. In the style of a witty lecture, in which he involves the audience, Salim Djaferi looks at his own family history in the context of colonialism, oppression and collective trauma. Playing with layers of meaning, a web of language unfolds that casts a spell over us.
