Based on Kamel Daoud's award-winning novel “Huris” about a young Algerian woman who fell victim to Islamists, the conversation explores the role of women's voices in the discourse on war and violence. Véronique Tadjo was involved in the writing project “Écrire par devoir de mémoire – Against Forgetting” in Rwanda, among other places, during which she spoke with numerous survivors of the 1994 genocide. Nadia Makhlouf has devoted a major film and photography project to women freedom fighters of the Algerian War of Independence, who were crucial to the country’s liberation in many ways, yet have now been largely forgotten.
The conversation will be held in English and moderated by Henri-Michel Yéré.
