Events

Early career researchers often work within the margins of their disciplines; this limits broader engagement with viewpoints that could present inventive research ideas, concepts and outcomes. As fellow PhD students, we recognize how integral young scholars’ contributions and engagement in scholarly discourse is to knowledge production and requires to be engaged with. By fostering a platform to share ongoing research, expanding traditional academic formats, creative or unconventional methods, articulate research in a facilitated and social gathering of peers is what the forum aims to provide.

Through a peer-led forum titled “Creative Encounters: Rethinking Research in Global Spheres,” PhD students are invited to reimagine interdisciplinary methodological frameworks that transcend geographic limitations, disciplines and academic borders. Designed as a collaborative and generative platform for African Studies and related disciplines, the forum is aimed at cultivating innovative approaches to research. 

By asking how we can approach our research through creative lenses, the in-person event on the 25^th of August consists of a creative interactive workshop, networking social event and a keynote speech by Dr. Henri-Michel Yéré. 

The forum is a collaboration between PhD students from the University of Basel, the University of Freiburg and the University of Bayreuth. It is funded by EUCOR – The European Campus.
