The Graduate School of Social Sciences (G3S) offers three, the Basel Graduate School of History (BGSH) offers two or three and the Doctoral Program in Literary Studies of the University of Basel offers one or two one-year start-up grants, starting on 1 October 2026.

The aim of the start-up grants is to enable young researchers to develop a competitive application for a research grant or research project position. The start-up grant will be paid in two half-yearly tranches (with evaluation).

Deadline for application: 7 April 2026 (Social Sciences); 5 April 2026 (History); 12 April 2026 (Literary Studies)
