Doctoral Researcher Position: "Diverse older populations, voice and planning age-friendly environments"

The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Doctoral Network „Aging, Place and Home HOMeAGE“ calls for applications for 12 Doctoral Researcher Positions. HOMeAGE involves a nine-country collaboration between leading research units, major intergovernmental organisations, international civil society actors and governmental and non-governmental organisations.

A three-year doctoral position (with an option to extend by 1 year) is available in Muttenz/Switzerland as of 1.9.2023. The doctoral researcher will be enrolled at the Centre for Gerontology at the University of Galway/Ireland, where she/he will also defend her/his dissertation and participate in the doctoral programme. The supervisor is Prof. Matthias Drilling (School of Social Work FHNW). Co-supervisor is Prof. Kieran Walsh (University of Galway).The research project at FHNW focuses on the topic of "Diverse older populations, voice and planning age-friendly environments"; the doctorate is intended to strengthen a theoretical understanding of the relationship between age and space through references to social, spatial and urban planning. As the project is carried out in close collaboration with the WHO, its international networks in the "age-friendly cities" programme can be used for the empirical research. For the project, solid experience in the fields of spatial analysis as well as quantitative and qualitative social research is expected.
