Job: Assistant Professor in African History Since 15th Century
San Diego State University, USA
The Department of History seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant professor in the history of Africa since the fifteenth century. All African regions and specializations will be considered. The Department welcome applicants who situate their research in the age of imperialism, but in that case with a special focus on Africa and Africans, and who de-center imperialism through the use of African- language sources and archives. The ideal candidate will be able to offer general education courses with broad student appeal, as well as upper-division and graduate courses in the area of specialization. Depending on research interests, the successful candidate would also have the opportunity to teach some of the department's courses in war and society, digital humanities, or public history. A Ph.D. in History or an appropriate allied field should be in hand at the time of application.
