Summer School: Engaging Conflict (Turin, 1-12 July 2019)

T.wai – Torino World Affairs Institute launches in partnership with the University of Turin, the 8th edition of the Engaging Conflict Summer School, an intensive 2-week programme aimed at equipping students, early-career researchers and professionals with advanced tools to critically understand conflict and tackle it as a dynamic reality.
The Engaging Conflict Summer School is designed to provide participants with a critical and multi-disciplinary understanding of contemporary conflict and violence, starting with a broad approach and moving towards more specific, yet salient topics.
Engaging Conflict’s faculty draws from a unique spectrum of expertise to train a select group of participants in assessing the complexity of conflict and post-conflict scenarios, and evaluating the relevance and impact of different policy choices and normative standings, from non-intervention to conflict prevention and peacebuilding.
The Engaging Conflict Summer School is a comprehensive learning experience that combines inputs and lectures by renowned scholars, subject matter experts and practitioners with participatory activities in an informal, yet challenging, environment.
In 2019 the Summer School will welcome the following faculty members: Mats Berdal (King’s College London), Christopher Coker (London School of Economics), Elise Féron (University of Tampere), Roger Mac Ginty (Durham University), Angela Mickley (Potsdam University of Applied Sciences), Kieran Mitton (King’s College London) and Alpaslan Özerdem (Coventry University). The Summer School will also see the participation of practitioners from the Italian Army, the SIPRI and the UN.
Participants to the program are selected through an intensive and highly competitive process, strictly based on academic merit, professional achievements and individual potential. The working language of the School is English. Applications are accepted until Friday 26 April 2019, and scholarships are available.
