For their new album, guitarists Vuma Levin and Théo Duboule drew inspiration from encounters with pre-colonial South African musical traditions and Renaissance music. They created a dialogue between early recordings of the music of the Nguni and Sotho peoples and madrigals performed in historically informed practice. The resulting soundscapes take shape through prepared guitars, sound design, as well as African instruments and percussion, complemented by the warm tones of the flugelhorn (Mats Spillmann) and a sensitive rhythm section (Marco Zennini, Martin Perrett, Lenni Torgue).
Line-up: Matthias Spillmann: trumpet/flugelhorn, Théo Duboule: guitar , Vuma Levin: guitar, Marco Zennini: e-bass, Martin Perret: drums, Lenni Torgue: percussion
