Feya Faku Quintet - Jazz from South Africa

On the occasion of a recording session, the great south african jazz musician plays two concerts at the Musikwohnhaus Basel - the place where in 2013 he recorded his award-winning album Le Ngoma.

Flyer Feya Faku Quintet

Feya Faku is one of the key artists who have shaped the jazz of South Africa since the 1990s. Echoing the colours and rythms of the Eastern Cape, his Le Ngoma song book has become an essential source for musicians in the country and beyond. 2013 Feya recorded his award-winning album Le Ngoma at the Musikwohnhaus in Basel - a tribute to the jazz of South Africa and the musicians who guided and influenced him in his early career. The recording is also an expression of a great friendship and long lasting collaboration with top jazz musiicans here in Switzerland, among them reedsman Domenic Landolf  and bass player Fabian Gisler. With pianist Bokani Dyer and drummer Sphelelo Mazibuko, both from South Africa, the ticket for a musical journey to the southern hemisphere is complete.
