Colonialism has left lasting effects on African education systems, replacing indigenous knowledge with Western languages, values, and curricula. Even today, schools often promote Eurocentric ways of thinking, marginalizing African cultures and perspectives. Using Ghana as an example, this talk explores how education in Africa can be transformed through critical transformative pedagogy (CTP). CTP encourages reflection and culturally grounded teaching, empowering Africans to develop practical, local solutions to their challenges. Stephen Baffour Adjei calls for decolonizing education by making it more responsive toAfrican realities, traditions, and ways of knowing, ultimately leading to improved livelihoods and greater cultural relevance.
