Book Launch: Science, Africa and Europe. Processing Information and Creating Knowledge
This new book about colonial and post-colonial scientific knowledge production with regard to Africa is the outcome of a long-term, Basel-based research project of the late professor of African History, Patrick Harries. It includes contributions by the (former) Basel-based researchers Sonja Abun-Nasr, Marcel Dreier, Patrick Grogan, Tanja Hammel, Heinrich Hartmann, Dag Henrichsen, Lukas Meier, Sandra Naef, Pascal Schmid and Daniel Speich.
At the launch, Tanja Hammel, Martin Lengwiler and Nigel Penn will reflect about the project, the book and Patrick Harries.
A joint event by the History Department and the Centre for African Studies of the University of Basel, and the Basler Afrika Bibliographien.
Drinks and refreshments will be served. The book will be on sale at a special discount.
