If you were to ask Alsarah which words best describe the music of her band, The Nubatones, she would most likely say "east African retro-pop". Despite having its geographical base in Brooklyn: the musical heart of this combo is located somewhere between the Ivory Coast and the Red Sea. Together with Rami El Aasser, Brandon Terzic, Mawuena Kodjovi and Nahid, the Sudan-born Alsarah creates a sound that takes the listener on an acoustic journey straight to the Nile Basin.
