Anyone called Kuti must have afrobeat in their DNA: as the oldest son of genre pioneer and Nigerian national hero Fela Kuti, Femi Anikulapo Kuti has over the years infused his father's legacy with punk, soul and even hip hop. The Grammy-nominated saxophone virtuoso began following in the huge footsteps of Fela Kuti at an early age, played in his band Egypt 80 from 1979 onwards and founded his own combo, The Positive Force, in 1985.
