Performance: "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised; It Will Be Live-Streamed"
Koleka Putuma, poet and theatre-maker, took the South African literary scene by storm with her first book of poetry, COLLECTIVE AMNESIA. In less than five months, 2000 copies were sold and her poems have become part of the curriculum at South African universities. Today, she ranks as one of the ten most important African poets. Koleka Putuma's performance deals with language and the way language is used to restrict or interfere with the freedom of expression and information. The performance explores our collective engagement with genuine and pretentious apologies, self-censorship, surveillance, protest and technology in our everyday existence. It will be followed by a talk with the artist.
