Afrika-Komitee Basel
Reflecting on Solidarity
For over half a century, the Afrika-Komitee has accompanied political and social movements in Africa, reported on them and created awareness in Switzerland. It has addressed issues such as unequal trade relations, land grabbing, climate justice, equal rights, toxic waste exports, and many more, reporting on them, in collaboration with the ZASB, in 196 issues of our Africa-Bulletin.
Now, after 51 years, the Afrika-Kommittee Basel discontinues its activities.
To mark this occasion, friends of the Afrika-Komitee were invited to reflect on the term "solidarity". What does it mean? What has it meant, and what does it continue to mean? What forms can solidarity with the Global South currently take in Switzerland?
The invited guests sharing their thoughts are
- the historian Dag Henrichsen (Basler Afrika-Bibliographien),
- sociologist Ueli Mäder (University of Basel),
- ethnologist Aurora García (Solifonds and KEESA).
Moderated by Barbara Müller
Followed by an aperitif and further discussion
