Podcast: Cry like a Boy

[Translate to English:] Cover

What does it mean to grow up as a man in Africa? The makers behind this interview and documentation podcast trace the stories behind centuries-old stereotypes of men and shed light on men who actively take action for gender equality across five different nations.

The first episode of the podcast series is about the "Abatangamuco", which means "the one who shines light". It#s about a group of men who oppose conservative role allocations and attributions in Burundi. For Abatangamuco, it's about tearing down toxic masculinity regimes. However, violence against women is still widespread in many communities and shapes the lives of men and women in families and relationships. Abatangamuco visit these communities and tell their personal life stories to convince other men to free themselves from violence and male clichés and thus to take on a more mindful way of life.
