The position is funded by the Tenure Track Programme of the German Federal Government and the Federal States supporting early career researchers.
Pending fulfilment of the applicable employment laws, the successful candidate will be employed as a temporary civil servant for a period of three years. A contract extension for a further three years is contingent on a positive evaluation of the initial three years. A subsequent appointment to a tenured professorship at W2 level at the end of this period is envisaged in accordance with the relevant statutory provisions.
The post-holder will be expected to develop, guide or participate in research projects located in the context of the priority research areas identified at the school and university levels respectively, i.e. "Mobility/Transculturality" and "Diversity and Participation". Involvement in academic administrative tasks as appropriate is also required.
Experience in applying for and securing external grant funding and in interdisciplinary and international collaboration is highly desirable, as is the willingness and capacity to engage in dialogue with postcolonial approaches in didactics and/or linguistics.
The post-holder's teaching responsibilities will include teaching in all the Institute's degree programmes. This includes the newer Bachelor's and Master's degrees in education, as well as discontinued generalist and teaching-focused programmes of study, and potentially in other project and degree programmes as the case may be.
The eligibility requirements for the position are based on the statutory provisions in the state of Lower Saxony (§ 30 NHG). For candidates who have been employed In Germany as a research associate or research assistant before or after their doctoral studies, the period spent as a doctoral student and researcher should not be longer than six years in total.
