Subsaharan African studies program
The Center for Asian and African Studies (CEAA, by its initials in Spanish) at El Colegio de México invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Anthropology, with a regional focus on Subsaharan Africa. The preferred candidates will be anthropologically trained and will demonstrate interest in and ability to carry out research and teaching, at graduate level, in general methodology and theory courses related to current trends in social anthropology and the social sciences, as well as specialist courses relating to topics such as tradition and modernity in African contexts, Subsaharan African knowledge systems, cultural hybridity, identity and displacements, and/or past and present trends in Subsaharan religious histories, movements and contexts. The range of possible research and teaching interests is open but should include at least one or more of the abovementioned themes, with preference in West and/or Central Africa.
