Job: Social Business Development Advisor (Lusaka, Zambia)

COMUNDO

Context:
People with intellectual disabilities (ID) are amongst the most marginalised groups globally. They experience social exclusion on a much greater scale than persons with other disabilities and this experience is intensified within contexts of poverty such as those on the African continent.

Partner organization:
The Sani Foundation (http://sanifoundation.org) is a Zambian non-profit organisation founded in 2014 that aims to facilitate full inclusion of persons with intellectual disabilities (IDs) into all aspects of society. The organisation was founded by family members of a person with an intellectual disability upon seeing the limited services available to persons with IDs in Zambia and the poor quality of life which results from this. Sani Foundation is a social enterprise that effects impact by combining their social mission with the market-driven approach of a business.

Activities:
As the second Co-Worker of COMUNDO with The Sani Foundation (the contract of the former Co-Worker will end in April 2020) you support Sani Foundation in its Business Development. The purpose of the WBL curriculum is to ensure that trainees with intellectual disabilities have a nationally-accredited qualification with which they can access paid work on the open Zambian labour market. You work closely with the board and management team to determine the best strategy for the Sani Foundation.

Objectives of the post:

  • The impact of Sani Foundation is scaled up and the several revenue generation options improved.
  • A comprehensive business development and growth strategy is designed, developed and launched.
