Research grants: Conducting Public Health Research in Ethiopia

Purpose: The intent of this research notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) is to support the following activities that aid in characterizing and responding to public health threats:
- Conduct human subjects research to improve understanding of communicable diseases (including emerging pathogens), noncommunicable diseases, zoonotic and vaccine-preventable diseases
- Implement strategic program improvements particularly in the areas of surveillance, laboratory capacity, workforce, and emergency management
- Measure the impact of health programs on the public health system in Ethiopia
- Capacitate Ethiopia to achieve the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005).
Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards: The estimated total funding available, including direct and indirect costs, for the entire 5-year project period is $5,000,000. The number of awards will be up to 5 (five).
Budget and Project Period: The estimated total funding (direct and indirect) for the first year (12-month budget period) will be $1,000,000 with individual awards ranging from $100,000 to $250,000 for the first year. The estimated total funding (direct and indirect) for the entire project period will be $5,000,000. The project period is anticipated to run from 09/30/2021 to 09/29/2026.
