Sonja Merten becomes a member of the ZASB Directorate
At its meeting of 2 June, the Steering Committee of the Centre for African Studies Basel elected Sonja Merten as a member of the Directorate.
The ZASB Directorate now consists of Sonja Merten, Lorena Rizzo and Julia Tischler. Sonja Merten replaces Martin Röösli who retired from the Directorate but is still a member of the Steering Committee.
Sonja Merten is head of the research unit Society, Gender and Health in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the Swiss TPH. Over the past 16 years, she conducted research with a focus on equity in access to health services, in interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary teams. She has worked in different African contexts on food security and child health, with a focus on gender dynamics.
