Funding doctoral studies

PhD students at the Centre for African Studies usually are either employed as research assistants in a research project or receive a scholarhip from a public fund or a private foundation.

The first step to your PhD studies at the University of Basel is always to solicite the support of a potential supervisor for your research project. As a general rule the supervisor is a professor at the University of Basel with research interests and a disciplinary background that corresponds with your research plan.

The executive office of the CASB is happy to advise PhD candidates who have the support of a supervisor at the University of Basel as well as a sound research proposal regarding the application for funding.
