Map collection of the archives of mission 21
The archives hold a collection of historical maps comprising some 2,000 printed and 5,000 drawn maps from overseas. Most of them date from 1780 to 1920. 1,000 sheet have been transferred to macrofiche (ILFOCHROME). Access to this important collection will be improved in the near future. An internet platform will give access to selected maps and link them to corresponding documents in the collection.
Map collection of the Basler Afrika Bibliographien
There are about 1,000 maps in the collection. Several countries are represented, but the majority relate to Namibia and include topographic, geological, historic, city and street maps from the 20th century. Access to the map collection is restricted.
