Basel Debates: "What is mine?"
Being able to purchase and being allowed to own are two very different things. The use of cultural values, whether non-material or material, is now being renegotiated. Who is allowed to use whose culture? Which cultural assets and data are we allowed to keep? Which ones should we definitely return? Can appropriation be done fairly? Where do we draw the line between exchange and exploitation? What political, intellectual and financial debts have we not paid?
