The Faculty of Humanities of the University of Helsinki is the oldest in Finland and the largest teaching and research unit in the field of humanities and disciplines. It is also an important international research, education and cultural community.

The Faculty of Humanities faculty is applying for a five-year fixed-term employment contract starting on 1 August 2018 for the

LETTER. The task is the Somali language and culture. The assignment is teaching-oriented and its location is the new Language Department.

The main task of the University Teacher / University Lecturer is to teach Somali language in the Bachelor's and Master's programs in the University degree and, if necessary, to teach Somali culture in other degree programs. Work involves teaching all aspects of language skills, especially teaching oral skills, text comprehension and writing. In addition, a university lecturer / university lecturer participates in other commonly agreed tasks (eg administrative tasks, development of teaching). As a rule, university work is not part of the research work. The candidate must have excellent oral and written language skills in the Somali language and good English language skills. In addition, Finnish language skills or interest in studying Finnish are considered as a result.

According to the rules of the University of Helsinki, a candidate for a job is required to have an appropriate higher education degree and the ability to provide high-quality teaching in a variety of ways. Applicants with a doctorate degree are qualified for the post of university lecturer; this includes the possibility of negotiating a research part as part of a task image.

In assessing the earnings of applicants, account is taken of the teaching experience in Somalia as a foreign language, the teaching of pedagogical and Somali applied linguistics, the ability to produce teaching material suitable for higher education, appropriate publications, other gains and, where appropriate, teaching. An achievement is considered to be the experience of advanced oral skills, understanding the text, teaching and translating texts in the scientific and working life. In addition, experience in learning environments from different teaching environments and the use of teaching technology and willingness to participate actively in the development of educational programs are hoped for. Monitors of interest in applying research in linguistics are desirable.

According to the University Decree, a university teacher is required to master the Finnish language. He / she must have at least satisfactory oral and written skills in the Swedish language. Foreign nationals or Finnish citizens who are not native or who have not received their education in Finnish or Swedish can be granted without a separate application for a derogation from this language proficiency requirement.

The salary to be paid for the post of university teacher is based on levels 4-5 in the demand level map of the teaching and research staff of the payroll system of the University Paying System. The level of university lecturer is 5 to 7. In addition, a payroll based on personal performance is paid. The provisions of the General Collective Agreement on Universities apply to the task. The task is hired with a probationary period of four months.

Applicants are asked to prepare for the study group to ask the lead peers to be interviewed after the application deadline and to provide a tutorial. An interview and a tutorial can also be provided at Skype.
