9th European Conference on African Studies (ECAS) postponed
The 9th biennial gathering of African Studies in Europe, originally scheduled for June 2021, has been postponed. The conference with the theme "African Futures" will take place at the University of Cologne, Germany, from 31 May to 3 June 2023.
The decision was taken by European Network of African Studies Centres AEGIS, the University of Cologne and the Global South Studies Center (GSSC) as the main organisers of ECAS 9. Considering the pandemic the convenors felt this to be the best and safest solution for everyone. They considered virtual or hybrid forms for ECAS 9 but feel that personal meetings and face-to-face networking are the most important pillars of such an event and therefore decided against such solutions.
