Call for papers: "Shaping the Future of African-European Relations for a Sustainable Future"

Public Management in International Cooperation (PMIC), 2–3 October 2025, Strasbourg (France) & Kehl (Germany)

The Public Management in International Cooperation (PMIC) Network has just opened their call for papers for a conference on "Shaping the Future of African-European Relations for a Sustainable Future" taking place in Strasbourg (France), Kehl (Germany), and online from 2–3 October 2025.

In an increasingly interconnected world, the benefits of globalization – such as rapid information exchange – are accompanied by significant challenges, including the accelerated spread of pandemics and stark global inequalities. The conference invites scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to explore new models of partnership between Africa and Europe. The conference seeks contributions that propose creative, cross-cultural strategies to reimagine African-European relations and contribute to a just, sustainable global future. Participants from Africa, Europe, and beyond are encouraged to submit abstracts for presentations.

Papers can be presented in English or French in one of the following two streams: (1) Leveraging Technology to Reshape African-European Relations; (2) Subnational Co-operative Approaches for Sustainable Futures.

Participation is free of charge and online participation will be available. Affordable on-site accommodation will be provided. For select speakers from Africa, financial support (travel and accommodation grants) to attend the conference will be provided. For participants requiring visa, non-material support in visa application will be granted.

Submission deadline: 19 June 2025
