Call for papers: "Faith, Refugees and Migration"

Research Symposium, Woolf Institute, Cambridge, 10 February 2026

The Woolf Institute invites papers for a one-day, interdisciplinary research symposium on 10 February 2026, addressing the theme of “Faith, Refugees, and Migration”.  They welcome contributions from multiple disciplines, including but not limited to Theology, Sociology, Anthropology, History, Law and Political Science. Empirical, theoretical, methodological, and practitioner-informed papers are encouraged.

Possible areas of inquiry include:

  • Faith communities’ responses to refugees and migrants (local, national, transnational)
  • Theological and  ethical perspectives on refugee and migrant rights
  • National diversity and religious belonging
  • Religious Nationalism: concepts, histories, and social effects
  • Migration and/or refugee history and historiography relating to faith groups from the ancient period until today
  • Interfaith initiatives addressing displacement, integration, and social cohesion
    Religious leadership and congregational support for refugees and migrants
