AAP Public Dialogue: "Higher Education, Geopolitics, and Sustainable Development in Africa"

Alliance for African Partnership

This public dialogue will explore the critical role of higher education in advancing equity, access, and sustainability—key elements of both local and global development initiatives. Higher education plays a pivotal role in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4): "Quality Education by driving innovation, fostering inclusion, and preparing future leaders to tackle global challenges". Amid shifting geopolitical and policy landscapes in the U.S., uncertainties have emerged that may impact global education and research collaborations. While the full implications of these changes remain unclear, higher education institutions must remain steadfast in their mission to promote knowledge, collaboration, and sustainable development.

This expert panel will highlight the contributions of African higher education institutions in transformative research, policy shaping, crisis leadership, and global partnerships. The discussion will focus on actionable strategies for strengthening the higher education sector amid these uncertainties, while advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
