Conference: Strides of Change: Re-engaging the African Narrative

2021 Africa Together conference

The African Society of Cambridge University is delighted to host the 2021 Africa Together conference themed Strides of Change: Re-engaging the African Narrative. The conference is completely virtual and free to attend and will take place on Sat 22 & Sun 23 May 2021. At the conference, the many ways in which established and rising leaders are positively shaping the continent’s future will be explored.

Notable speakers for the 2021 conference include:

  • Angelique Kidjo, Singer-Songwriter and Activist
  • Bobi Wine, Ugandan Politician
  • Samaila Zubairu, President and Chief Executive Officer, Africa Finance Corporation
  • Dr. Ernest Kwamina Addison, Governor, Bank of Ghana
  • Bright Okpocha aka Basketmouth, Nigerian Stand-up Comedian

Despite the challenges in historic and present times, great strides of positive change have been attained on the continent, and focusing our narratives on setbacks has allowed many of these strides to go unnoticed or under-appreciated. The goal of the 2021 conference is therefore to identify, establish and interrogate Africa’s best decisions and systems with the aim of optimizing them for even better growth. These areas of success will also be appraised as possible activators for other areas of development on the continent. There are a number of panels set up ranging from Business, Politics, Urban Planning, Arts, Education and Leadership. Each panel includes a combination of esteemed and rising leaders who will be able to masterfully articulate the progress of our continent and its growing role in a global context.
