Exhibition: “Don’t Say anything against Telephone Directories!”
The Basler Afrika Bibliographien (BAB) exist for 50 years. On the occasion of this anniversary the BAB present its activities in a colourful exhibition that opens the view into the insides of our diverse documentation centre.
The exhibition sheds light on aspects of one key question: How do a library, an archive and a publishing house handle African knowledge in Europe today? This reflection affects the acquisition, accessibility and dissemination of African knowledge and content in publications and documents of any kind.
In this sense the exhibition revolves around questions that some may have been waiting to ask the BAB, but never dared– or simply did not have the chance to do so: How do you organize knowledge? What is the archive actually collecting? Who publishes here? And – what exactly is a Thesaurus?
