Ab Mitte der 1970er Jahre richtete Jocelyne Saab ihren Fokus auf Kairo: "City of the Dead" (1977) dokumentiert einen bewohnten Friedhofs, in "The Cross of the Pharaos" (1986) richtet sie ihren Fokus auf die Kopten und "The Ghosts of Alexandria" (1986) erzählt die verblasste kosmopolitische Pracht von Alexandria.
