Literature Afternoon: with Swiss journalist and translator Regula Renschler
Feminist and critical of racism: the decades-long commitment of Swiss journalist and translator Regula Renschler (*1935) crosses borders. Not only was she the first woman on the editorial board of the Tages-Anzeiger and head of department at the Erklärung von Bern (today "Public Eye"), but she also founded the publishing house and association "baobab books" in 1975 with the brochure "Dritte Welt: empfehlenswerte Kinder-und Jugendbücher" ("Third World: recommended books for children and young people", today "Fremde Welten"), the "Arbeitskreis Tourismus und Entwicklung" (Working Group on Tourism and Development) in 1977 (today "*fairunterwegs") and the Women's Information Centre FIZ in 1985. In 2001 she was co-initiator of the translators' house Looren. From 1985, Regula Renschler worked as an editor at Radio SRF for culture and politics from Africa and Latin America. A conversation about the beginnings of a more conscious dialogue between the Global North and South.
